All Eley garden hose reels are prepackaged with a 6-1/2 ft. x 5/8" ID polyurethane inlet hose, (also called a feeder, jumper or supply hose). We are not able to substitute it for a different size or length of hose. If you'd prefer an inlet hose that is shorter, longer or larger (i.e. 3/4" ID), then you'll need to acquire it separately. Here are a few options available to you:
- We offer two longer assemblies of 5/8" polyurethane hose on this website, a 12 ft. x 5/8" ID hose, and a 25 ft. x 5/8" ID hose
- You can make your own inlet hose from an old hose you already have in your possession.
- You can purchase a different length and/or size of hose (including 3/4" ID) from a different source or retailer. Eley does not offer 3/4" ID hose at this time.
The end of the inlet hose that attaches to the hose reel will simply need to be equipped with a standard, male 3/4" GHT fitting, (Garden Hose Thread). Standard 3/4" NPT (National Pipe Thread), will not work.

[section title="Can the reel be converted to 3/4" flow?"]
Yes. The entire internal plumbing of all Eley garden hose reels consists of two components, 1) the inlet hose and 2) the brass swivel. The standard inlet hose that is supplied with each reel is 5/8" ID. However, our patented brass swivel is a full-flow 3/4" swivel. So to convert the reel to 3/4" flow, simply replace the 5/8" inlet hose with a 3/4" inlet hose of your choosing. At this time, Eley does not offer 3/4" inlet hoses.[/section]
[section title="When is the Extra-Capacity Kit needed?"]
Although the maximum hose capacity of the 'standard-capacity' hose reel is 150 feet of 5/8" ID hose, it must be reeled back in very carefully and neatly to get the entire 150 feet of length onto the reel. If you need 150 feet or more of hose, we highly recommend that you upgrade the hose reel with the Extra-Capacity Kit. (See image below). Likewise, the maximum length of 5/8" ID hose that can be stored on an Extra-Capacity hose reel is 225 feet. Again, that maximum length will need to wrapped onto the reel very slowly and neatly if you want it all to fit. Comfortable lengths on the large-capacity reel would be our 200 or 225 feet of hose.

[section title="Are the reels available in different colors?"]
Eley garden hose reels are only available in our "Spartan bronze" color. This attractive, neutral bronze color was selected for its unique ability to blend in and look great with almost any color of siding, brick, stucco, wood and other surfaces.[/section]
[section title="Do you make larger capacities reels?"]
The largest capacity hose reel available from Eley is any of our standard models modified with our Extra-Capacity Kit. Equipped with this optional kit, our reels can hold up to 225 feet of 5/8" hose or 170 feet of 3/4" hose.[/section]
[section title="Is any assembly required?"]
Yes. However, the assembly process is not difficult. The assembly instruction manuals can be view on our Owner's Manual page.[/section]
[section title="Can I use thread locking compound on the stainless steel screws during assembly?"]
ELEY does not advise using a thread locking compound, whether it be low, medium or high strength. The reason is; if removal is required at a later time, there are a number of places where you are not able to access both the nut and the screw to hold them properly if a thread locker has been used.[/section]
[section title="Do the reels come with a level-wind option?"]
At this time, the Eley does not offer a level-wind feature on our garden hose reels. Also know as hose guides, a level-wind is designed to guide the hose back and forth onto the reel while rewinding.[/section]
[section title="What maintenance is required?"]
Eley garden hose reels are completely maintenance free. However, if you live in a winter climate, be sure to winterize the reel to protect it from freeze damage. View our winterizing Video.[/section]
[section title="Can this hose reel be removed from the post for the winter without removing the wall plate?"]
Yes, The wall mounted hose reel can be removed from the axle/wall plate without removing the mounting bracket. Please see the steps below.

- Unthread the brass swivel from the axle of the reel by loosening the silver retaining nut from the axle by turning it counter-clockwise.
- Pull the swivel and about 6” of hose out the front side of the reel
- Unthread the brass swivel from the inlet hose.
- Slide the cam-lever brake off the axle.
- Slide the hose reel off of the axle and take to your designated space for winter storage along with the swivel, brake, and inlet hose assembly.[/section]
