Number of Steps to Determine Length of Hose

Since the average person's step is approximately 2-1/2 feet, a quick and simple method for calculating how much hose you need is to step off and count the number of paces from your faucet to the furthest distance you want the hose to reach. Use the table below for a quick reference. 

 

FOR EXAMPLE, 38 paces x 2.5 feet = 95 feet. Therefore, a 100-foot hose would be an ideal fit for that particular location. Be sure to follow these guidelines:

1. Walk at a normal pace—no giant steps.

2. Walk the same path the hose will lay to reach the furthest point. No shortcuts.
