Protect Your Landscaping From Hose Damage

The ELEY Hose Guide uses smooth roller-ball guidance to help garden hoses and outdoor extension cords glide effortlessly around flower beds, corners, and landscaping while reducing snags, kinks, abrasion, and damage caused by heavy dragging.

The removable shepherd’s hook design swivels freely within the ground stake, allowing the hose guide to rotate and capture the hose from virtually any direction.

It also makes it easy to reposition the guide between installed ground stakes wherever hose protection is needed most.

When the guide is removed, the low-profile ground tube remains nearly flush with the ground to help minimize mowing interference and reduce tripping hazards.

Unlike plastic hose guides that crack, bend, or pull loose over time, ELEY’s commercial-grade 304 stainless steel construction is built for years of dependable outdoor use and is backed by ELEY’s 10-year warranty.

Frequently Asked Questions - Garden Hose Guide

These FAQs are specific to the Garden Hose Guide. For general FAQs (specifications, ratings, etc.) about all ELEY watering tools, visit our Watering Tools FAQs.
Does dirt get in the tube? Do you offer a plug?

There is always the possibility of foreign material entering the ground tube stake when it is not in use; however, we have never received a customer complaint about it.

The tip of the stake has a hole for moisture to drain, and it would take quite a bit of material to "pile up" in the tube to make the guide inoperative.

If you ever want to pull the stake out of the ground to clean it, you could use a claw hammer to get under the top flange of the stake to help lift it out of the ground.

We don't offer any type of plug for the opening; however, one could likely easily be obtained by using a cork. The opening diameter is 1/2 inch. Local hardware or home centers likely carry such items, which are usually available in either cork or rubber material.

What is the size of the hole down the center of the ground tube?

The diameter of the hole in the stainless-steel tube, in which the solid stainless-steel rod of the guide slides into, is 0.55 inches, or 14mm.
What is the outside diameter of the ground stake/tube?

The outside of the tube is 18mm (+/-0.3mm), so it is 0.7 inches to 0.72 inches. For installation into concrete, use a 3/4-inch masonry bit to drill a hole at least 13 inches deep as the tube is 12-3/4 inches long.  Then, we suggest adding some silicone caulk to the outside of the tube, but make sure the hole in the bottom tip of the tube stays clear so water can drain. The silicone caulk will help keep the tube from lifting out.
What grade of stainless steel is this item made of?

It is AISI 304 stainless steel.

The hose guides are such

"The hose guides are such a simple design, but executed perfectly. Moreover, I no longer buy ANY garden/watering supplies from ANY other company. If I need something and Eley makes it, I know I'm set. I own 3 of their oversized water reels and a combined hundreds (and hundreds) of feet of hose in varying lengths. Eley hoses are the ONLY hoses that truly do NOT kink. It's as though they don't want to kink even if you try. And yet they're lighter than nearly every other hose that's capable of handling equivalent water volume. Eley's hose connections, attachments and bibs? They're completely overbuilt and engineered to last for years. Eley is da bomb!!! I've never regretted any purchase of an Eley-made product."

Why not only sell guides???

"These are great items to protect hoses and aid them smoothly going around corners. Why the middling rating? Because the company will not sell the guides separately which I've had stolen and damaged by mowers over the years. These aren't exactly cheap. The company sells the spike by itself. Why not only the guides at a slightly reduced price... like they do for the spikes? I have asked it repeatedly over the years as to why, but zero response. Yes, I realize the company can do whatever it wants, but from a customer's perspective, it's not an outrageous question. Alas, my rating. To complete this review, I must answer the question regarding if I'd recommend it to a friend and my only choices are yes or no and not a maybe or something similar."

Excellent hose guides

"I love my new Eley hose guides! I bought two and they are perfect! Top notch quality constructed and the right height and design to keep my waterhose exactly where it needs to be without going over my flowers and ruining them. I’m very happy with this product."

— Jeanna D. (5/5)

Picked these up after being

"Picked these up after being tiered of strangling the corner plants in the yard. These hose guides are on the pricey side, but made of solid stuff, and after first experiencing the friction free glide around the corner, I became a gleeful convert. They work quite well. I expect to get many years of use in the future."

GREAT guides!

"i bought three of these to use in my garden because i got tired of dragging the hose over plants. I’d been using those green plastic ones from Amazon but they break easily and fall apart easily. I wish I’d discovered these years ago! They are heavy duty, capture the hose and let is slide through like it was greased! I will definitely be buying more to put one on every row of the garden!!! As as engineer I appreciate good design and manufacturing - and this is definitely that! Thank you!!!"

The best hose guide period.

"This is the best hose guide. Yes, it is expensive, but I will say if money can buy patience, this would be it. No more trying to play rodeo man, whipping the hose. You can locate it where it works best, not restricted to flower beds. I love the fact that I can use all of my hose (no pun intended) without any problems."

— Chester S. (5/5)

Excellent Product

"This is exactly what we were looking for. It is made exceptionally well and has been worth the price so far. The hose glides effortlessly through it and has made watering my garden so much easier."

— Amy L. (5/5)

Hose frequently pops out of guide

"we have a wall mounted automatic hose reel, and hoped the Ellie guide would prevent the hose from moving too far into the garden beds or crossing the patio. The real struggles with attention from the hose real and because of the open and often only works in One Direction. If you cross over in the other direction, the hose leaves the guide. On the positive side when the hose is within the guide it does move freely and prevents crossover in one direction."

Best hose ever!

"My only outdoor faucet is not well located for watering my garden areas. I needed a very long hose, which would not strain my back to drag around corners and put away. I have used multiple hoses over the years, but all were a struggle. This one actually works! Light weight enough for my ageing self to easily manage. Never kinks or tangles itself into knots. Mine is over four years old now, but looks and behaves like brand new. Just bought a second one for a family member."

— Barbara S. (5/5)

Sweet relief!

"Great for sandy soil. The long spikes keep these anchored and fully functional with every use. Smooth operation and very sturdy. For people who want their tools to work for them. A tiny con would be that my new puppy loved pulling them out of the anchor spikes and chewing on them. He has since tired of this and his big boy teeth have arrived. This is a testament to the strength and durability of the guides. They ere mot damaged by his assaults in the least"
