This kit increases the capacity of any post-2009 ELEY standard capacity garden hose reel from 125 feet of 5/8-inch hose up to 200 feet.

IMPORTANT: Was your reel purchased before April 2023?

If your hose reel was purchased before April 2023, it has a threaded axle.  This kit comes with our latest "threadless" axle, which accommodates our latest "clamp-on" swivel (item #4291).  To upgrade your older hose reel with this Extra-Capacity Kit, you will also need to upgrade your reel with the 4291 swivel.

If your hose reel has a brass swivel that looks like any of those pictured here, you'll need to upgrade to the 4291 swivel. 

All of the hose reels that used a threaded axle had serial numbers within the range listed below.  If your reel's serial number falls within this range, you'll need to upgrade to the 4291 swivel.

Increase the Capacity of Your ELEY Hose Reel

This kit is designed to be installed during initial hose reel assembly or can be retrofitted as an aftermarket upgrade to any already assembled ELEY standard capacity garden hose reel. It will increase the 5/8-inch ID capacity from 125 feet to 200 feet by widening the reel's center drum by an additional 4 inches. The 3/4-inch ID capacity increases from 100 to 170 feet. Highly detailed print instructions and step-by-step videos are available to make installation as quick and easy as possible.

Commercial-Duty Construction

The extra-capacity kit includes an aluminum-alloy spacer coated with a Spartan-bronze powder coat finish to match the reel. The longer anodized aluminum axle allows for the expansion of the reel, and the three stainless-steel screws securing the unit.

The only tool required for installation is the 8mm x 5mm hex key wrench included with this kit. Backed by our industry-leading 10-year warranty. This kit is only compatible with all ELEY® model reels purchased from 2009 to the present.

Will this kit retrofit onto older Rapid-Reel models.

This kit will only work on ELEY and Rapid-Reel models that were produced in 2009 and after. It will not work on TRITON or Pro-Line models, which were sold prior to 2009.

"But for the short axle, I'd give it 5 stars but 4 will have to do. Apparently fitting this axle has all of the tolerances of a fine military instrument. If you don't get the reel pulled/pushed (hammered?) all the way on, not enough axle protrudes to hold the retaining clip. Personally, I thought I'd done enough, gave up and simply attached a hose clamp to the inlet/feeder hose so as to keep the reel from slipping off. Here again, an extra half inch of axle wouldn't have hurt anything yet made things much easier."
