Make Custom-Length Garden Hose
Create a custom-length hose by cutting a standard ELEY garden hose to the desired length and pressing on the ELEY fitting of your choice.
ELEY polyurethane garden hoses are available in standard lengths of 6-1/2, 12, 25, 50, 75, 100, 125, 150, 175, and 200 feet.
For example, to make a 17-foot hose:
- Purchase the following ELEY items:
- Hose Repair Tool
- ELEY Fitting(s) of choice
- 25-foot hose
- Measure from the male fitting and cut the hose to 17 feet.
- Use the ELEY Hose Repair Tool to press the new fitting onto the cut end.
What do you do with the leftover hose? We recommend buying another fitting and pressing it on that hose's cut end to create another one. In this example, it would be an 8-foot hose. Or you could cut it again and make two shorter hoses.
Create Hoses with Matching Fittings
Need a hose with two male or two female fittings?
Using the ELEY Repair Tool and the appropriate fitting, you can modify a standard hose or create a custom configuration to fit your setup.

Frequently Asked Questions - Hose Repair Tool
What is the pressure rating of the repair fittings?
Our polyurethane garden hose, which includes our proprietary pressed-on fittings, is rated at 150 PSI. However, the pressure rating of a non-ELEY hose repaired with our repair tool and fittings will depend on the condition, quality, and size of the hose tube and cover.
Are any other tools needed with this repair tool?
We provide a 5mm x 8mm hex key wrench for use with the repair tool. You can speed the process up by using a power drill with a 5 mm hex bit for tightening the four screws that attach the two halves of the tool together. We recommend you use the included 8mm hex key tool for hand tightening down the press screw so you can feel the resistance as the fitting gets pressed into the hose. You'll need to use a cutting tool of your choice (common utility box cutter knife works great), for cutting the garden hose.
Can I buy the ELEY polyurethane garden hose without fittings on the ends?
No. We only sell our polyurethane hose in finished, standard-length assemblies, which include one male and one female fitting.
Does ELEY still make custom-length hoses?
No. Instead, we now offer this repair tool, our full-flow & lead-free brass fittings, and our standard-length polyurethane garden hose from which you'll be able to make your own custom-length hose. Because of the labor-intensive processes involved in making custom-length hoses, we charged considerably more per foot than our standard-length hoses. With this process, you'll end up with two custom-length hoses (should you also choose to press a fitting onto the other cut length) and a garden hose fitting repair tool that can be used to install factory-quality pressed fittings onto almost any brand of garden hose for years to come. No more cheap after-market fitting repairs from the big box or hardware stores.
Do the fittings and this tool work in repairing non-ELEY brand hoses?
We have tested our repair tool and fittings on many hose brands, but not all of them. The outside diameter (OD) range of 5/8-inch hose for effective use with the ELEY garden hose repair fittings is 0.85 to 0.90 inches. We would not recommend it for any collapsible (or self-retracting) hose, hoses with a metal cover, or hoses that have a multi-sided cover. The tool and fittings are designed for a 5/8-inch ID garden hose ONLY.
What is the MIN and MAX hose OD measurements for these repair fittings to work?
A successful repair isn’t so much dependent on the outside diameter (OD) of the hose as it is the wall thickness. Minimum thickness would be 0.10 inch and maximum would be 0.15 inch. Circular hose shapes only, no polygons. If it is more convenient for you to use the outside diameter (OD) of 5/8-inch hose for effective use with the ELEY garden hose repair fittings, you'll want to look for an OD measurement from 0.85 to 0.90 inches. If you don't have a digital caliper and only have access to a tape measure or a ruler, you'll want to look for an outside diameter between 13/16 and 15/16 of an inch, with 7/8-inch being the sweet spot for an ideal fitting repair.
Are the fittings drinking water safe?
ELEY hose fittings are made using high-quality materials, including durable brass, and are designed for use with drinking water.
Do you offer this tool and repair fittings in a 3/4-inch ID?
No. Sorry. 5/8-inch ID hose only.
Can an ELEY hose fitting be reused if cut off a hose?
No, they cannot be reused. There is no acceptable method for successfully separating the collar and barbed fitting once they are pressed together.
I don't see my question in this list.
