Is the hose reel easily tipped over?
No, our free-standing hose reel will not easily tip over. It has a wide base with rubber feet to help keep it stable and weighs 23 lbs. For added stability, the hose reel can be staked to the ground or anchored to a solid surface. Crafted with 1/4-inch hole through each rubber foot allows for additional zero-tip anchoring options.
Can this reel be anchored to a solid surface?
Yes, the rubber feet on the base of the 1042 Free Standing Garden Hose Reel have been crafted with 1/4-inch hole through each rubber foot allows for additional zero-tip anchoring options. You will want to select the proper hardware for your mounting application from your local hardware store.
Is the free-standing hose reel made with drinking water safe materials?
Yes. ELEY hose reels are manufactured using high-quality materials commonly used in applications involving drinking water contact. The water-contact components include a durable polyurethane inlet hose, with hose fittings and swivel components made from lead-free brass that comply with federal lead-free standards.

Does this reel tip-over or slide on mulch, rock, gravel?
The ELEY Free-Standing Garden Hose Reel may slide or move if sitting on a loose impediment as the rubber feet need to contact a solid surface in order to hold it in place. If you wish to anchor the reel to the ground, you can use up to a ¼” landscape spike through the open rivet holes in the feet. Or you might consider putting the reel a solid surface like a paver at least 20” wide.
Does the sharp bend in the brass swivel restrict water flow?
The change in the shape of the garden hose swivel gooseneck does have a theoretical impact on water flow, but it is so minimal that our digital flow meter with a resolution of 0.01 gallons per minute (GPM) and our pressure drop gauges cannot detect it.
Can I mount it to a trailer?
No, the ELEY garden hose reels are not intended for over-the-road applications. The warranty of the product does not apply when products are used in excess of their rated capacities and design functions or under abnormal conditions.

"Awesome adult toy to help keep my hoses in line. Husband insisted that he wanted this brand. I was skeptical about the price but after saving up, ordering, seeing it arrive, taking it out of the package and putting it together, I realized how right he was. The quality, the care put into the product is exceptional. The instructions were at first hard to follow but there is a video. Luckily I was able to figure it out without the video and the product was completely setup in about 7 minutes. I will be saving my pennies for the cover to help store the hose during the winter. Sells Hose That Doesn't Fit Hose Reel
"I bought the 125ft hose and the Eley reel. It barely fits on the reel. It often comes loose and has to be unwound/ rewound when I'm trying to use it because it gets tangled. If the 125ft hose doesn't fit the reel, maybe don't sell them together as a package? It's extremely annoying. I regret my purchase. I'm not paying this company more money to solve a problem they caused by getting the reel extender when I already paid $500 for the hose and reel."

"We were those people who kept buying cheap hoses and having to replace them every year or two. I finally came to my senses and bought the Eley hose and reel and they are amazing! The hose doesn't kink and the 75 ft works well for our 1/4 acre lot in the front. I love the locking mechanism and the rolling up is so smooth. The parts are also all metal and of great quality and because of that we haven't had one leak! We highly recommend these products!"

However, we did need to refer to the video while assembling. It is expensive compared to other hose reels but the materials seem to be of long lasting quality and the unit is stable.
