Is the hose reel easily tipped over?
No, our free-standing hose reel will not easily tip over. It has a wide base with rubber feet to help keep it stable and weighs 23 lbs. For added stability, the hose reel can be staked to the ground or anchored to a solid surface. Crafted with 1/4-inch hole through each rubber foot allows for additional zero-tip anchoring options.
Can this reel be anchored to a solid surface?
Yes, the rubber feet on the base of the 1042 Free Standing Garden Hose Reel have been crafted with 1/4-inch hole through each rubber foot allows for additional zero-tip anchoring options. You will want to select the proper hardware for your mounting application from your local hardware store.
Is the free-standing hose reel made with drinking water safe materials?
Yes. ELEY hose reels are manufactured using high-quality materials commonly used in applications involving drinking water contact. The water-contact components include a durable polyurethane inlet hose, with hose fittings and swivel components made from lead-free brass that comply with federal lead-free standards.

Does this reel tip-over or slide on mulch, rock, gravel?
The ELEY Free-Standing Garden Hose Reel may slide or move if sitting on a loose impediment as the rubber feet need to contact a solid surface in order to hold it in place. If you wish to anchor the reel to the ground, you can use up to a ¼” landscape spike through the open rivet holes in the feet. Or you might consider putting the reel a solid surface like a paver at least 20” wide.
Does the sharp bend in the brass swivel restrict water flow?
The change in the shape of the garden hose swivel gooseneck does have a theoretical impact on water flow, but it is so minimal that our digital flow meter with a resolution of 0.01 gallons per minute (GPM) and our pressure drop gauges cannot detect it.
Can I mount it to a trailer?
No, the ELEY garden hose reels are not intended for over-the-road applications. The warranty of the product does not apply when products are used in excess of their rated capacities and design functions or under abnormal conditions.

"I went down the hose reel rabbit hole and found that the Eley line kept coming up as a “buy it for life” option. Well, the strangers on the internet were right! This is a well-made product, with quality materials and a straightforward process for assembly. We actually got to the point of attaching our hose and thought we had really goofed. The hose head was too long to fit the angle of the Eley attachment… we thought. We fiddled with it for a minute and realized the Eley is highly adjustable. Absolutely recommend!"

"Bought a hose and a reel. Had a small leak for which I sent a video in for customer support with an additional quesiton as well. Truly felt like I ended up in an AI support response that didn't really answer my primary question as solutions provided didn't seem to apply. Second qustion was completely ignored, Sent follow up message and no response. Couldn't reach a human by phone through their support either. Like the product, disappointed with the customer support."
no leaks but doesn't handle heavier hose well

I'll need to buy a lighter gauge hose, because when I go to crank it, the whole thing moves around, like it needs to be mounted to the ground. My older reel leaked like crazy but its heavy base kept it in one place when I cranked. This one isn't as steady."

"Got this to replace the cheap plastic reels from big box stores. Easy to put together. Relatively light yet sturdy. Very smooth to operate to roll and unroll the hose. "i like it very much, the construction is great, the action is smooth, it was easy to assemble; my reservation is that a 75' Eley hose when fully wound has a tendency to flop a loop or two off the reel unless the hose is held in tension (which is hard because of how smoothly the reel turns); this is mostly when i'm starting to unwind the hose and i'm going at a slight off-angle, or even when i just pick up the end of the hose to add an attachment before unwinding; maybe with time my hose will be a little less stiff and this will resolve i mounted my reel to a couple of 4x4s to make a little "sled"; this stabilizes it and keeps the feet from digging into the ground; the photo shows the hose unhooked because i have just drained it prior to a hard freeze"
